A desert is a place with scanty rainfall. The hot deserts
nears the equator lie in subtropical land where the land is dry. Those deserts,
which are further away from the sea, do not have much rainfall, and the effect
of the moist winds is also not there. Deserts can be sandy or rock. Where sand
is abundant, the winds may build sand hill or dunes. These are sand deserts.
Rock deserts consist mostly of bare rocks. Some posses barren rocky mountains
and the dry plains of soil and gravel. In desert only those plant and animal
life can proper, which required very little or almost no water at all. Deserts
plants have little or no left surface, so as to reduce evaporation of water. As
far as animal are concerned, only those animal can live in the desert, which
can go for long periods without water and get liquid from plants or night dew.
